Do you believe that ‘another world is possible', or even ‘other worlds are possible'? Then this meeting is for you:

Preparatory Assembly for the European Social Forum 2004 to held in the UK. London 13th / 14th December 2003 Start Saturday 9.30am. Ends Sunday 1pm. Venue: City Hall, The Queens Walk, London SE1 2AA The European Social Forum is not an organisation, not a united front platform, but "an open meeting place for reflective thinking, democratic debate of ideas, formulation of proposals, free exchange of experiences and inter-linking for effective action, by groups and movements of civil society that are opposed to neo-liberalism and to domination of the world by capital and any form of imperialism, and are committed to building a society centred on the human person". (From the Charter of Principles). Representatives of the European social movements that were involved in organising the ESF in Florence and Paris will come to London to deliver their evaluation of the ESF in Paris and agree with the UK groups on a process acceptable to all for the ESF in the UK 2004. The European groups will not agree any process foisted on UK social movements - they want everyone to feel represented and involved in the process who wants to be. It is important that as many groups, networks, organisations and individuals as possible are represented at this meeting so as to lock into the organising process the diversity we need. The meeting will discuss many things. A provisional agenda will be put forward by a Volunteer Group, which has been set up consisting of delegates from trade unions, NGOs, anti-capitalist groups, alternative media. It will meet on Wednesday 10th December, 6pm, at City Hall. Just for your info, this group is not dominated by the SWP or Globalise Resistance. We have successfully ensured that they are a minority force so there is no reason to be afraid and not get involved. To help provide activists with some background, those of us involved in the UK social forum movement are hosting a: GRASSROOTS ORGANISATIONS and LOCAL SOCIAL FORUM MEETING FOR THE ESF 2004 DECEMBER 12TH, 7.30PM STUDENTS' CAFE' OF THE INSTITUTE OF EDUCATION 20 BEDFORD WAY LONDON Closest tube: Russell Square on the Piccadilly line (Turn left leaving the station, walk for about 50 meters, and then cross the road.
