The BBC's new director general will face tough times. Nicholas Jones talks to Hannah Lownsbrough of 38 Degrees, Becky Branford of BBC Online and Luke Crawley, BECTU's assistant general secretary about George Entwistle's burden.

The BBC has announced that George Entwistle will be its new director general. Mr. Entwistle, who is currently director of BBC Vision, will take over from outgoing director general Mark Thompson on 17 September. Recorded before the announcement, the CPBF’s latest podcast brings together union activists and campaigners to discuss the challenges facing the new director general.

Nicholas Jones was joined by Hannah Lownsbrough, director of the online campaigning group 38 Degrees; Becky Branford of BBC Online and mother of the chapel in her branch of the National Union of Journalists; and Luke Crawley, assistant general secretary of the entertainment and broadcasting trade union BECTU.
