Governance of the BBC:
Speakers: David Liddiment, Professor Richard Collins, Nicholas Kroll, Director of Governance at the BBC
Tuesday 8th March 2005: 12-1.30 pm.

"Dear Colleagues,

I am contacting you from the Social Market Foundation, the independent public policy think tank, to invite you to a seminar, part of the SMF's Broadcasting Policy Forum, taking place on Tuesday 8th March, between 12 noon and 1.30pm, which will investigate the question of how the BBC is governed. The seminar will take place at our offices, 11 Tufton Street, London SW1, nearest stations Westminster and St James's Park.

We are extremely pleased to have Professor Richard Collins, of the Open University, David Liddiment and Nicholas Kroll, Director of Governance at the BBC, who will discuss:

* How viable is it that Governors be both the management board of the organisation and its main regulator, and what alternative models might work?

* Can the BBC remain aloof from the regulatory wing of OFCOM? I very much hope that you will be able to come along to what will be an interesting and stimulating session. If you can, or would like to send a colleague instead, or require any further information, then please contact me by email or on 020 7227 4401.

Best wishes and look forward to seeing you then.

Valerie Johnson

Social Market Foundation"
